A goes well with the answer. The noun form of increasing politicization in B, of Increasing politicization in C and increased politicization in E are the least preferred over the verb form of politicized in A. In E, the active 'have politicized' is not logical. It is ugly to see the modifier 'increasingly' parenthesized between two commas as if the modifier is not essential. The increase is an essential ingredient of the current status. In addition, an adverb is normally required to precede the verb it modifies rather than follow. One may see why E is such a poor answer.
