Your description of how you believed I did on the quant section matches very closely with how I feel.
I'd still advise you to work hard on your concepts. A Q42 should not happen if your concepts are in place.

Hey all,

I took the GMAT for the first time this Saturday and scored a 680 (42Q 41V 7IR), which is lower than my target score of 700+. While disappointing to me, it fell right in line with what I was scoring on my practice tests so I plan on retaking the GMAT again on December 30th with a little more prep. This gives me one more month of studying.

My score breakdown was a 42Q 41V 7IR. Clearly I need to focus this last month on improving my quant score. I’d like to get it into the 70-75th percentile if possible.

For some background, my practice test breakdown (All GMATPrep) was as follows (in order):
610, 670, 700, 690

I’m looking for some tips on increasing my quantitive performance. The highest I’ve scored on Quantitive in a GMATPrep exam was 45. I’m hoping to get my score up to the 46-47 range. This combined with a 41 in verbal (which I’ve been scoring consistently) will put me where I want to be.

I’ve used all of the Manhattan Prep guides during my preparation and am considering buying the Magoosh quantitive package to work through this next month. Seeing as my score is consistently in the 40-45 range, and from reading the Gmatclub post "How to get improve your quant from q44 to q50", it seems that I still struggle with some of the core concepts and need to become more comfortable with those. Is the Magoosh course a good idea? Any recommendations on how to get that quant score up a bit? I feel like I’m so close to where I want to be overall. Just a bit more work…

Cheers all!

Hey cmonty,

You can definitely improve quant in a month. We recommend examining multiple variations off of the same core question type so you are prepared when the same kind of question is asked in a slightly different way.

Here is a list of practice problems you can try out: https://www.gmatpill.com/gmat-practice-t ... -questions

If you are looking for more diversity in practice tests, we recommend that you try the GMAT Pill Practice Test here: www.gmatpill.com/gmat-practice-test/practice-test/
