Hey all,
I am Nishanth, a UNC Kenan Flagler grad. Over the past two years, I have been helping several candidates with their MBA applications - proud and thankful for a 100% acceptance rate. While it might seem obvious that I'd think a consultant is a must have, hear me out for a second.
When I was applying for top B schools by myself a few years ago, I didn't realize how much of a disservice I was doing to myself. Like they say, hindsight is always 2020. And I only realized how silly I was to think that - "oh I have a 750", "I know my story better than others", "I will take help from alums and friends", "I have an IIT", "I already will be owing 1-2 cr in a couple of years, let me save whatever I can". But this outlook changed since I started helping candidates over the last couple of years - I have seen numerous profiles come my way from all wakes of life 640-780, 1-10 years of experience, software to movie making, etc. And in every scenario I clearly was able to add so much value. I saw my candidate profiles transform from sometimes below-par to great and sometimes great to memorable. And I realized that the value I/other consultants bring to the table is the insights from during and post-mba experiences. We understand who make it to the top schools, what adcom really look for, how to retell your story in a memorable way, elevate your thought process through coaching and help you paint a much clearer career path to your dream job.
On a personal note, it gives me so much pleasure when candidates crack their dream schools or get financial aid. And also a little bit of ache, when I think about what life could have been if I took help from a professional. Maybe a better ranked school? Maybe a scholarship? Like Kanye West says - "I guess we will never know". Or maybe I wouldn't change any of it after all because I met my wife during our MBA

, I found what I enjoy + great at (Product marketing and product management), and I am able to help candidates kickoff their dreams every season
Any how, sharing a personal story to help you make a decision on whether you need a consultant + shamelessly bragging how awesome of a consultant I am. You might be wondering why me vs someone else, but that's for another day. Please do reach out if you need help with resume building, gmat guidance, come up with a game plan, picking schools, crafting your stories, etc. Hopefully we can help each other.
