Which mode of coaching is better for gmat preparation online or Classroom? I wanted to join Jamboree classroom classes but thinking about online classes due to corona situation. Which are the better options for classroom coaching? I got mixed reviews about materials and doubts resolution of online courses. (Location - Pune)

Hi Sagart21,

Starting your GMAT studies soon - far in advance of when you will actually "need" your Score - is a smart choice.

It's not clear what Schools you want to apply to next September, but if you are interested in any highly-competitive Programs, then you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Those Experts should be able to answer your Admissions questions and help define the specific areas of your profile that could use some improvement. Over the next 10 months, you could work to improve more than just your GMAT Score. There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

https://gmatclub.com/forum/ask-admissio ... tants-124/

As an aside, the 780+ score is above the 99th percentile - meaning that most GMATers never score at that level. Thankfully, NO Business Schools actually require that you earn a score that high - so it's important to realize that the score that you "want" and the score that you "need" to get into your first-choice School are not the same thing.

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Regarding prep courses, in addition to seeking advice in this thread, take a look at the GMAT Club reviews for the best quant and verbal courses, and also read through some GMAT success stories to see what materials have worked well for other test-takers.

You also may find it helpful to read this article about how to score a 700+ on the GMAT.

Good luck!

I feel you can prepare for the gmat on your own. But if you need help Online coaching might be helpful .Joining an offline institute might not be a good idea specially in the covid situation. Just do one thing. Learn the concepts from the OG(both quants and verbal , take a week for this) after that go to the official gmat site(mba.com) and take the first Mock test. This will give you an idea where you stand.
If you score
1.below 500.( you should get yourself enrolled in a tutoring class)
2. Between 550-640(online recorded lectures or prep material would be helpful)
3. 650 and above , you just need to work on the weaker areas ( the questions you got wrong for the test) and you will surely see a jump in your scores.
4.Also if you end up scoring very high in quants(q49,q50,q51) and very low in verbal(v34 and below) consider taking coaching or online course for verbal only. Quants wont be a problem for you.
For practice test's you must surely purchase either gmat prep official tests or Mgmat Cats.

hope this helps.

Hi Yash,
Thanks for the suggestion, sounds really good. Anyways classroom coaching doesn't look feasible for coming few months. Maybe I'll have to go for online classes or wait for few months for classroom batches to start.
I'll take the mock first on priority.

Regards,
Sagar Tarale.
