Hi rolle44,
To start, you can find LOTS of practice questions to work through on GMATClub - and most include a thorough discussion on how to approach the questions.
Most GMAT questions are written so that they can be approached in more than one way - so any explanation that you read for practice question will almost certainly include facts (such as Formulas, Grammar rules, etc.) and/or concepts/patterns (re: Number Properties, Causal Logic, etc.) - meaning that you're likely to get 'theory' no matter what source you're using for practice. You also have to be careful about assuming that just because you correctly answered a practice question doesn't mean that there's some way to improve. For example, if you take 4 minutes to answer a Quant question that you could answer with 1 - 1.5 minutes while using a specific Tactic, then to maximize your Score on Test Day, you really DO need to learn all of the Tactics and theory that you can.
From your post, it's not clear how much studying you have done so far, so it would help to know a bit more about your studies and goals:
Studies:
1) How long have you studied? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
3) Have you taken any practice CAT Tests yet? On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
Goals:
4) What is your overall goal score?
5) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
6) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?
GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
