I need some feedback as to how to approach the optional essay which my school says i can do if there is an extrenuating circumstance. In my case its the GMAT. As my grades are:
3.38 Cumulative B+
3.44 Finance B+ (Major)
3.93 Economics A
I have overseas work experience working in Europe as a Finance/Marketing consultant for the last 5 summers and worked in a law firm one summer and that is where im currently employed now. Also i was in a Finance honors class investing the schools money of $1.5 into various stocks.
My Letters of recommendation come from one professors who is the assistant tot the president of university and who has lots of pull in the university and who i had for international business and did will in his class. The other professor is professor who i had 3 times and got A's everytime and who spoke aboutmy leadership abilities and so as far as LOR's i think im good.
So i guess this optional essay is good if i do it right, and can get me over the hump?
Please let me know what you all think....

I would caution against using the optional essay to address what you perceive to be a weak GMAT score. Optional essays are a touchy subject as it is, because you need to avoid coming across as whining about something from your past. Using that essay to address the GMAT will likely be viewed in a negative light by admissions committees, who will wonder why you don't simply retake the test if you don't think the score is indicative of your ability. The GMAT is the only part of your application that you can continue to address. Retake the test if it's a concern.
