I think the ongoing question of how much experience bschool students should have before enrollment is an interesting one. Some schools lean toward younger students (Stanford), others toward older students (Duke), and some offer special programs for this with less experience (Yale, Harvard).
Duke just announced a new program for those wanting additional business education right out of undergrad (see below).
What do you all think of such programs? How much experience do you think is "right"?
I am excited to announce the new Master of Management Studies: Foundations of Business program at Fuqua.
To learn more about the program, I invite you to join us for an information session on Tuesday, March 24, at 7:00 p.m. in the Davis Meeting Room at The Fuqua School of Business. Free parking will be available in the Science Drive parking lot, across from Fuqua. Refreshments and food will be served. Click here for a map of Fuqua.
Foundations of Business is a nine-month, pre-experience master’s degree program. It’s taught by renowned faculty at Fuqua – one of the world’s top business schools. The program will complement your undergraduate degree – regardless of your area of study – by combining fundamental business skills with the depth, breadth, and critical thinking skills you acquired from your undergraduate education.
The program provides the necessary know-how to leverage your existing capabilities and will help you jump-start your career by entering the job market next year with a broader, more marketable skill set.
You do not need any previous business or professional experience to apply. An online application will be available soon. SAT, GMAT, and GRE scores will be accepted. I invite you to learn more – visit the program’s website at

Sincerely,
Blair Sheppard, Dean
