Hi,
I originally planned to apply to Business School in 2016 but it did not work out fully. I did get two recommendations and wrote some of the essays. Essays are on me, but I want to be able to leverage the recommendations and some of the short answers I typed up in the Business School systems.
Issues are that it now seems that I am not able to access the 2016 applications given that I did not submit it. Also want to minimize the amount of work for my recommenders, so any advice on that front will be helpful as well.
Any recommendations on next steps?

It depends on the school whether they have the option to access old applications. It would be better to mail the adcom of the school to get more info.
In a year, I guess your recommendation would surely have something extra. In my opinion, it would be better to get a fresh recommendation letter rather than using the same old points.

While you can leverage some of the material from 2016, it's always a good idea to look at applications with a fresh set of eyes, since you likely have new experiences that you can point to (and the same is true of the recommendation letters). So, ideally, it should be a combination of some of the older material as well as some new material.
