Out of the 500 GMAT aspirants who registered on the e-GMAT website a single day, 50% registered for Verbal courses and 200 registered for Quant courses. How many students registered for neither of the Verbal and Quant course?

(1) 30% of the aspirants registered only for Quant courses

(2) 10% of the aspirants registered for both Quant and Verbal courses

I don't understand the question. Are there Verbal "courses" as it says in the first sentence, or a Verbal "course" as it says in the second? Is there a distinction we need to make between the plural and the singular?

Assuming that's just bad editing, we have 250 people who take Verbal and 200 who take Quant. If we know 150 only take Quant, then 50 must take both, and 200 must take only Verbal. That accounts for 400 people, so the remaining 100 must take neither. So Statement 1 is sufficient.

If 50 take both, then 200 take only Verbal and 150 take only Quant, and we have the same situation as above, so Statement 2 is sufficient, and the answer is D.
