I took the GMAT Online last week and scored 580 (Q43 V27).
I had taken 5 mocks before this and have consistently score Q46+ and V38+, even when solving questions, I would generally do pretty well on my Verbal.
Hi
vsanika, I can only imagine how devastating this 100+ point drop would have been for you.
You need to do a
self-analysis in terms of what happened wrong on the day of the exam. Some of the reasons for this could be:
1. Exam day is (well) exam day! Nerves can play a big role.
2. While giving mocks, you perhaps encountered a lot of repeat questions on the mocks (questions that you had perhaps solved earlier as a part of your practice).
Once you're done with this analysis, you need to preferably order an Enhanced Score Report (ESR) that will give you a better idea in terms of how you performed across Quant and Verbal on the day of the exam. ESR will also give you for the breakup in terms of your performance across various subject areas in both quant and verbal. Also, this report will also tell you how you performed in terms of time management.
Based upon all the data, you then need to work upon your weaknesses (time management/concepts?) to achieve the score that you desire. I see that your score drop in Verbal was especially staggering!
The good thing is that you have been scoring well in your mocks. So, you clearly
have the potential. Now, you just need to convert that
potential into
performance.
Remember: There are no magic pills. Good luck with your prep!
