Over a seven-week period a company monitored the output of two of its branches , C and D . Each week the company calculated how many units were produced in each branch . The branch that produced the greatest number of units for four or more of the seven weeks was considered the more efficient branch. Which office was deemed the more effecient?
(1) Over the seven-week period Branch C produced twice as many units
as Branch D.
(2) The Branch that was more efficient was known by the fifth week .

I. C=2D; All we have is the 7 wk total. Although C produced 2x the amount that D did, it doesn't imply that C was more efficient. Say that C produced 1,1,1,1,1,10,9 units respectively during the 7 wk span for a total of 24 units and D produced 2,2,2,2,2,1,1 for a total of 12 units.
II. Doesn't say much about a specific branch.
I & II. No good either. You can change the distributions in the above example to verify. C can have the production front loaded and thereby be declared the winner or the production can be backed loaded and it can come out the loser.
