First off let me start off by saying I have lurked GMAT club for the better part of a year and want to thank everyone who contributes and maintains this wonderful wealth of information.

It all stared about a year ago, when I took my first GMAT diagnostic and scored a 500 my hopes of a 700+ felt all but crushed. After doing some research I decided to start studying with Magoosh, I highly recommend the product as it filled so many gaps I had. I soon realized how little I remembered from my high school days. I had hopes of taking the exam 3 months after starting Magoosh and ultimately got into this bad situation of waiting until I saw 700+ on my mock exams before registering for a date. The big issue with this tactic was that I had no hard and fast date to study towards, it was just an opened ended never ending prep fest. After months I saw my mocks go up mainly because I continued to recycle them. I signed up to take the exam in October of 2017 and alas a 620 Q44 V31, major disappointment, but still a victory over my initial diagnostics. I don't fault Magoosh for this result at all. I studied open ended for about 10 months Jan - October and Magoosh taught me so much! The real issue was I wasn't studying well.

Move forward a month or so post exam and I realize I need to get back on the band wagon and find a new provider that can give me some tactics. I say tactics because I was such a poor standardized test taker, that I had no idea how to pace effectively or approach a unique exam like the GMAT. After reading more reviews it seemed that EMPOWER GMAT would be the best fit and boy am I glad I chose them. Rich's tactics were incredible and helped me start thinking the way I was supposed to be. Thankfully Magoosh filled so many of my knowledge gaps that I was able to dive head first into Empower. Naturally the holidays slowed me down and my 3 month plan turned into 5, but I took the exam for the second time in March and finally saw the result I wanted 710 Q49 V37. I tried to use as many tactics as possible, including, jumping jacks in the bathroom, preparing PB&J the night before, closing my eyes and relaxing multiple times throughout the test, and most importantly SKIPPING SUPER HARD QUESTIONS .

Thank you so much Empower GMAT and thank you Magoosh! This test was an absolute monster for me and I feel so relieved. Anyone out there who gives up hope, just keep pushing forward. Anyone can break 700 and take the test 1 question at a time!

Sorry if this wasn't the most well structured review, I'm still very excited! I am happy to answer any other questions about my prep, exam, or life in general.

TLDR: Went from 500 diagnostic to 10 months later 620 Q44 V31, to 4-5 months later 710 Q49 V37
