The differences for 3 yrs are -100,000, 300,000 and 200,000 respectively. Now I am confused whether it will be 600,000/3 or 400,000/3.

200K (C). In my opinion, the average difference is the 'absolute value' per se of all the differences. So, (300K+200K+100K) / 3 (not 300K+200K-100K).
