Hello,
I'd like some advice and input from the gmatclub community about my plan to improve my score. Here goes....
Scored a 680 overall (q47,v36) with IR 7, target score 740. On gmatprep I scored 680 and 730. I generally do pretty well in the quantitative section above 46 or so every time. Ideally I would like to stay above 48 in quant and reach above a 43 in verbal. I have used
MGMAT preps entire set of resources: cats, books, other... and have done nearly all gmatprep question packs and exams marking all my weakpoints and any incorrect answers with bookmarks for review.
Verbal is my weakest section.
RC: Generally score 90-100% accuracy in this section regardless of taking practice quizzes or exams with good pacing.
CR: Usually do well in accuracy around 70-80% but i find that sometimes im stuck between knowing which is right or wrong and then rating the correctness of each answer choice. I often can get difficult questions right but take too much time to do so.
SC: Need to improve significantly in this section. As a native speaker I'm finding it hard to lock down proper grammar and really make solid decisions about which answer is write and wrong. For easy to medium questions in SC its easy for me to identify the correct answer but on more difficult questions I find myself rating them on which i think is more correct, so I obviously lack a technical understanding I think.
I think SC has been my downfall in Verbal as I generally perform very well on RC and somewhat on CR, then i'm faced with high level SC questions that I often get wrong. Either way I would like some input and any personal tricks on how to go about improving these sections. Overall CR and SC are my biggest improvement opportunities and I'd appreciate any and all input. I'd also like to add that I have been purely self teaching, and I think I would benefit greatly from a tutor to talk through verbal stuff but I can't afford the expense.
My Plan: Reread and memorize sentence correction rules and CR from the
MGMAT resources. Use 1000's SC and CR, maybe for the other sections as well but still I think the issue is with my approach and foundation to each section. I take the gmat again in about a month.
Thanks ahead of time!!
