Hi,
I'm a First-Gen 24Y South Asian immigrant (US Citizen). I have 2 years Work experience and will have 3 years of experience at matriculation at a household name retail company where I do Merchandise Planning (think Financial Planning/Forecasting).
I graduated from a T50 US school with a 3.32 GPA in Mathematics & Economics. I scored a 730 (Q47/V44) on the GMAT last week.
I also have entrepreneurship experience (2 yrs where I founded a small tutoring company where I lead a team of 5-6, revenue $50K+ and have 30+ annual clients). Our mission is to help disadvantaged immigrants in the US with affordable tutoring & mentorship and do some Pro-Bono volunteer tutoring as well.
I am looking to apply in R2 to M7;Haas + NYU. Many have said that I am too young to apply but I really want to get in ASAP. People with my profile at my company (with my current title - [I was promoted early on merit] have landed M7 though with 1-1.5 more years of experience). It leads me to believe that M7 is realistic for me but what can I do to overcome my GPA & Age. Should I Apply in R2 and reapply R1 next year or just apply in R1 next year.
My goal is to enter the Tech industry ideally as a PM and learn about managing Tech products and using that to start my own Ed-Tech company where I combine my passion for Education to create affordable customized Educational Technology products.
Please feel free to be as kind or stern as needed. I am aiming to retake the GMAT and score a 750/760 before R2 this year. Do you think this will help overcome my GPA or is it not enough to offset my age/profile.
Thank you!
Talos (Alias)
