GMAT Club has grown into one of the most powerful tools for focused GMAT prep but only if you know how to use it the right way. This will help you to get the most out of the platform, whether you're chasing a Q85+, mastering Verbal traps, or taming DI dragons.
First rule of GMAT Prep: Start untimed.
1. Use Filters to Target the Right Questions
GMAT Club’s forums let you filter questions by:
You can use two main filter methods:
Method A: Sub-forum filters
Method B: Bookmark the Search Tags pages
2. Choose Questions Based on Source
The source of the question matters (esp for Verbal). Your first love should be Official Guides (OG) and GMAT Focus practice materials. Make sure to get a copy of the Official Guide 2025-2026 - it comes with online practice tool as well as DI questions that are available exclusively online (not in the book). You can also buy Sectional Review Guides if you want additional practice on official questions.
Once OGs are exhausted, graduate to:
Heads-up: Avoid questions with GMAT Prep (Focus) tag as those are the Official Practice Tests questions and solving them early will inflate your Official Practice Tests scores later.
Section-wise filters to save your sanity - bookmark and thank yourself later:
Tip: Always read the expert replies after each question, that’s where the gold is.
3. Build a Streak to Develop Accuracy
Pick one topic, start with easier questions and build a streak. Remember these are your untimed practice sessions:
Why? Because this forces you to slow down, learn from previous mistakes in the fear of breaking streaks, and get consistent. You’ll end up solving 80–100 focused questions per topic. Review each question as soon as you attempt it.

Heads-up: OG questions aren't available in Forum Quiz, so use GMAT Official Practice Site for timed OGs.

But once you’ve moved beyond OG, Forum Quiz becomes your testing playground:

6. Ask Questions the Right Way
GMAT Club isn’t just a practice hub but it’s a community.
When you're stuck:

- Choose one from PS, CR, RC, DS, G&T, MSR or TPA
- Use the filter bar at the top of the sub-forum to narrow down your search
- After filtering, sort by Kudos or Replies to find popular, high-quality discussions
Method B: Bookmark the Search Tags pages
- Use Search Tag Filter to access all filters and topics in one place.
- ✅ You can select multiple boxes for Topic + Source + Difficulty at once.
- Don’t forget to change the sorting from “Last Post” to something more helpful (like Kudos or Difficulty).

I'll add a couple tips.
One is that, in case it's not clear, what works best is to, for most of your practice, check your answer to each question right after you answer it, as opposed to doing, say, 15 questions in a set and then checking your answers after you've done all the questions in the set. The reason checking your answer immediately works best is that, by doing so, you'll be in the best position to judge how well what you did to answer each question worked, see why you missed any missed question, and apply what you've learned in answering a question to answering the questions that follow it.
The other is that, when you're practicing untimed, you don't have to totally ignore the time you spend on questions. Rather, you can be conscious of the time you're spending on each question and look for ways to reduce it. That way, you can give yourself time to learn to answer questions while also making progress toward answering them at test pace.

Thank you Marty, these are good suggestions!
I think everything used reasonably and experimenting with the best approach that works for everyone personally.
For example, I timed myself on every question from the very beginning. They did not wanna give myself any slack if I was solving questions.
Also, I resisted the temptation to check the answer because that would break my rhythm and make a very choppy practice set as I would be eager to know why I made a mistake and dive into it. Sometimes I would get frustrated I was making mistakes and disappointed to continue. So I would not check my answers until I finished 10 questions.
But I think you are pointing out a good situation when someone’s learning a new concept, you want to do it slowly and one question at a time that’s well spaced in learning material so you learn and practice at the same time so speak.
