The main difference I can think of is that a paper-based test is not computer-adaptive. Also, I'd assume you can skip around on the question order and go back to earlier questions later on, something that cannot be done on the real GMAT. I don't know this for sure, though; maybe someone who's taken a paper-based version can clarify? In any case, I would guess that the scores are scaled and adjusted to make them comparable with those from the CATs.

I'm also scheduled to take the paper based test this month was wondering how the scoring would compare. I have been practicing mostly with the CAT tests because I figure if I can master those, then the paper should be easy. I have taken two paper based test so far and would consider my performance above average but definitely not excellent. I also find that I run out of time on some sections of the paper tests so I definitely need to work on that.

I hope this doesn't work to my disadvantage or I will consider travelling to the US to take the CAT test instead.
