Hi
sighman18,
Thanks for reaching out. In short, I think your profile looks good for those two part-time programs! WE is a bit on the lower side, so make sure you've got impact, results, leadership experiences, etc. to share when you apply. But I find your switch from IT/Analytics to finance interesting. See if you can boost your involvement in company groups, or something outside work, as I think that could help your profile to show a strong track record of involvement. Otherwise, it seems like your GPA is the main challenge. I'm not too worried about it though because a) you have an upward trend in your GPA, b) engineering GPAs can trend lower, and c) you've got a great GMAT score (and the CFA helps a bit too). But if you're looking for ways to improve, look back at your transcript and see if there are any courses that would be helpful to "retake" or any gaps that you can fill, because you could still take a pre-MBA course before you apply.
Hope that helps!
Kate

Hello all,
I am thinking of applying to part time MBA next year at Booth or Kellogg and was wondering how my profile looked.
Current location: Chicago
Demographics: 25 M Asian American
Undergrad: 3.01 GPA Engineering (top 10 program) GPA was 2.5 after my first two years, but had 3.5 GPA my third and fourth year. Did pass CFA Level 1 but pivoted to GMAT prep afterwards and didn't take any more CFA exams
GMAT: 730 (50Q 40V)
WE: 4 years at matriculation. Started in IT/Analytics and recently transitioned to finance at a well-known Chicago company
Extra Curriculars: Extremely involved in employee resource groups at previous company (multiple leadership positions and created fundraising/engagement events). Mentored high school students pre-Covid. Currently still trying to get more involved at current company's ERGs.
Goals: Network, develop leadership skills, and advance my career into management. I would like to stay in finance and am interested in transitioning to private equity or other finance positions. Additionally, hoping that the MBA program helps me explore where a career in finance could go.
Thank you all so much!
