This is another reason that all test takers should visit the facility and ask questions. The staff are usually helpful (as long as they are not too busy), especially if you mention that you are rehearsing for test day. They understand that your practice will help them with a quicker checkin on your actual day. Tell them your name, they will usually check the future appointment date to verify you are in there. Then try to go through as much as possible with them - documents, forms, process, fingerprinting, layout of the building, lockers, bathrooms, etc.
Good luck on your appeal or retake.

The "helpfulness" aspect with regard to centers varies widely. Some centers may be helpful in parts of the US and some Western regions. In other regions of the world, many of the centers are understaffed, overworked, uninformed, or just do not want to help anyone. In addition, spending the time and money to visit a center is just not feasible, especially in regions with poor transport, or security issues, or those that have very few centers spread across boundaries. Examples from the U.S. and others do not transfer readily to other regions.

The best solution is to always rely on the website and/or directly contact the test administering organizations. These organizations will tend to point to their websites when policies are under consideration.

Oh, I understand that it is not universally the same around the world. It varies by region and administrator.
I researched and actually signed up for exams in China and Hong Kong when I was living in the region.
In the end, I moved my test date back to align with a short trip to the US. But even moving that was an extreme difficulty.
I do agree that research and information on websites is critically important to review.
My theme was trying to take any guess work out of the process. Do all the research and/or visits up front so that test day is automatic and you can save your energy / decision making for the questions.
