Is passport necessary for GMAT test center?

100% necessary. I didn't carry my passport when I travelled all the way to a different city for my GMAT and I was not allowed to appear. Effort, money, time all down the drain

The ID requirements page on the MBA website provides a way to check the specific ID requirements in your location via a drop-down menu.
"International travel passport: A passport is always required when taking the exam at a location outside of your country of citizenship. Expired passports are not acceptable and renewal papers do not make an expired passport valid.
In some locations, additional forms of ID (other than a passport) may be acceptable. Be sure to check the requirements for your location."
