Hi everyone,
I had a terrible experience today with my GMAT exam. My exam was scheduled for today (31st December 2023) at 2pm. My test centre was MAHARASHTRA COLLEGE OF ARTS SCIENCE AND COMMERCE (Please NEVER select this test centre)
I reached the centre at 1pm (since Mumbai traffic is unpredictable). It took me 15 minutes to actually find out where the test centre is inside the college. FYI test centre is a computer lab in the basement at the extreme end of the campus. When I reached there I was asked to wait outside. After sometime other candidates came and at 1:30pm we all went inside. However we were told they are facing some technical issue. The issue was they could not complete our verification process since the "ADMIT" option on their Pearson Vue app was greyed out. Surprisingly it was only for this centre (we came to know about this later). The test administrator asked us to wait while he troubleshoots this issue. At 2:45 he started leaving the campus casually without even informing us. We ran behind him and asked for an update. He said that there are some other junior staff inside the lab and they are still trying to trouble shoot, if the issue still persists they will raise a case id for us after 3pm with which we can reschedule our exam. At 3:30 we went inside the lab and asked the staff to raise a call id for us since the issue was still not resolved. However they were not able to raise the case id for us as well and gave us the same reason of technical issue. They asked us to leave and said we would receive a sms regarding the same. After paying ~25k for the exam how can they expect us to leave the centre without any proof of this incident. There was huge argument and verbal fight between the student , parents of students and the staff till 6pm. Eventually after making several calls to Pearson call centre each one of us requested the call centre team to raise case ids for each one of us. The behavior of the staff was completely casual & unprofessional. I have cut the story short but those 3 hours were more stressful than my actual gmat exam.
I have couple of queries:-
1.) Will I get a refund/reschedule since there is no intimation from GMAC/ Pearson Vue about the issue today. ( I have also written a mail to GMAC team but no response till now)
2.) My exam was booked for GMAT classic & I took good 2 weeks leave from office to prepare and give the exam. Also I have couple of other things planned up in Jan. Since the classic exam is valid only till 31st Jan, is it possible that I can reschedule my next exam for focus edition later this year or if not classic exam but somewhere in Feb

Wow, that was a truly pathetic experience.
While GMAC customer service is not ideal, I'm sure that the answer to your first question is yes, I suspect that the answer to your second question is yes as well.

In your email to customer support try to mention any indisputable evidence. If you received a ticket number, GMAC should get back to you when it comes up.
