Pay attention to the liklihood of answers at each letter?

Question

After reading several threads on this, and other sites, I have read about several strategies that essentially direct a person to pay attention to the difficulty of the problems he faces, and therefore, decide the liklihood that a DS answer choice would be found in a particular letter. For instance, let's say the correct answer choice for difficult DS problems have a higher liklihood of being found in C or E when compared to A,B or D. Would you consider this while you are going through DS problems, or simply answer the question based upon the support you create? I have been doing the latter, but want to ensure I'm not missing out on an advantage, if one exists.

Please please PLEASE do not waste your time trying to guess this way. You'll just shoot yourself in the foot.

Learn intelligent guessing techniques by using process of elimination, plugging in, etc.

Okay, that's what I figured would be the general sentiment, but wanted to make sure. I also find it odd to eliminate answers based on which letters usually contain the most correct responses. Thanks for the response.

You may be onto something, but it will be much easier to get a good score by just answering the questions.

this only works for DS but if you had to guess and you know you are on hard problems obvious answers wont work. So from a quick glance if it looks like combining statements will work, its not C. If things look very confusing and there doesnt look like there is enough to answer on a first glance, probably not E. Hard geo problems usually are D but could be A and B. If you are picking C or E on geometry, think long and hard about if you are capturing the question completely. Problems with ratios and rates and averages, think long and hard about C.

Now these should really be used if you are clueless towards a question but could also give you some guidance as you are answering not to fall for traps.

Yea, it's kind of the whole Joe Bloggs thing. As you get better at solving the questions, so does Joe Bloggs. Besides, juggling trying to get an answer and figuring out what letter is best, is just too much effort.

As terp26 said, focus on certain things in DS. Especially difficult DS questions = usually not E. Some DS has A and B giving the same information, in different format.
