I am a 24-year old female, originally from Nigeria. Moved to the States for college education.
Work experience – I currently work at a top investment bank in NYC as a business analyst/project manager handling technology projects, and I’ve been there for 3 years. Was promoted to Assistant VP after 2nd year. My role has changed for handling minor parts of tech projects to actually running regulatory projects with a team of 3 people.
GMAT Score – 660 (q39, v41, AWA 5.5)
College info – Georgia Southern University (second-tier college). GPA – 3.4. Graduated in 2008 with a BS in Information Technology with a concentration with Knowledge Management and Integration, and a minor in Marketing.
Extra-curriculars – Active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority (Technology Chair of my college chapter), Volunteer/Mentor with Free Arts NYC, Member of Nigerian organization Red & Gold Catalysts, which put together volunteer and community events every year.
At work, I’ve also mentored 2 interns in 2010 and 2011.
Speak conversational French, and several other African languages.
Target programs – Yale, Duke, Booth, Ross, Kellogg and Darden.
Recommendations - Current Supervisor, Past Department head, and possible coworker/team member.
Post-MBA goal – I would like to go into Management/IT Consulting, with a special interest/focus on African companies.
