Which rule is allowed in GMAT to arrive at an answer? Because for some questions answers differ from each rule.

There is no difference between these two:

PEMDAS: Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction.
BODMAS: Brackets, Orders (ie Powers and Square Roots, etc.), Division and Multiplication (left-to-right), Addition and Subtraction (left-to-right).

It all means the same thing! It doesn't matter how you remember it, just so long as you get it right.

Multiplication and Division have the same priority
So remember whenever you encounter any equation with a lot of * and / signs => Mover from Left to right and solve for whichever comes first.
E.g => x*y/z = xy/z and x/y*z = xz/y

I think both should be correct.. they are just different terms.... either way you should have the asnwer

THERE ARE INSTANCES WITH FRACTIONS WHERE THERE WILL BE MULTIPLE ANSWERS

Target Test Prep teaches left to right in instances where there are disagreements on Multiplication/Division. Are there any other sources that would support the same?

ie

8 / (1/2) * (1/2)

if Multiplication takes precendent, then 8/ (1/4) = 32

If left to right 16*(1/2) = 8
