Cost of 1 pencil is 20 cents = $0.2
Cost of 1 dozen (Without reduction) = 12 * 0.2 = $2.4
Since there is a 10% discount on buying a dozen, therefore the price = \(2.4 * \frac{90}{100} = $2.16\)

Sol:
price for each pencil=.2 then price for 12 penciles=12*.2=2.4
The price is 10% cheaper=2.4-.24=2.16
