Hi All,

This is a Q based on the range of the sides of a pentagon. Please tell me how to solve such problems:
Q) If 4 sides of a pentagon are 3,4,5 and 6, what is the range for the 5th side?

got the same thing. pentagon has five sides. divide the pentagon into 3 triangles, determine the range of each new side of the two other triangles that have two sides defined. then combine the two sides of the triangle that has as one of its sides, the last side of the pentagon.

Pretty straightforward.

stretching the pentagon to almost to a line, the unknown side will be connecting the 4 remaining segments (3+4+5+6) = 18 => that is the max

a pentagon given only 4 sides is not defined, you can easily make it almost degrade into a quadrilateral => that is the min
