I have just take a Powerprep, except that the Powerprep is GRE, not GMAT. Still they are administed by ETS.

I got verbal 460 and percentile 48, and
quantitative 590 and percentile 51.

Can anyone explain to me what is the meaning of percentile?

Thanks.

It means that 48% of the population scored at or below 460 on the verbal section and 51% of the population scored at or below 590 on the quantitative section
