Pharmwin, a premium pharmaceutical company, has decided to gift a labeled gold coin as memento to each of its 2,000 employees on its 50th anniversary. Moldwell, a metal molding factory, has been approached for casting these mementos. Moldwell suggests that Pharmwin must provide equivalent quantity of gold in the form of bars, which Moldwell shall then mold to cast the 2,000 coins. Moldwell suggests that it will charge a flat $12 per coin that measures 1.0 inches in diameter and 0.1 inches in thickness. Moldwell further suggests that for any other dimensions of the coin, the price of casting shall vary directly with the diameter of the coin and inversely with the thickness of the coin. Pharmwin is considering two dimensions for the coins - diameter of 0.5 inches and thickness of 0.3 inches or diameter of 0.8 inches and thickness of 0.2 inches.

Given that 1 coin of dimensions 1inch diameter and 0.1inch thickness costs $12.
Price ∝ diameter
price ∝ 1/thickness
-0.5inch diameter & 0.3inch thickness
Here the diameter is 1/2 of the original dimensions and thickness is 3 times the original.
So price per coin= (12 x 1/2)/3 = $2
Price for 2000 coins = 2 x 2000 = $4000
-0.8inch diameter & 0.2inch thick
Similarly, price per coin = (12 x 4/5)/2 = $4.8
Price for 2000 coins = 4.8 x 2000 = $9600
Price ∝ diameter
