hello ppl
I am a prospective student in the process of applying for my phd in business...i plan to focus on either quantitative marketing or strategy...
my background: bachelors in Mechanica engg, masters in Mech engg, currently doing my masters in Economics will graduate by May, I have always been among the top 5% of my class so acads are pretty strong.
I wrote my gmat in september got a small jolt when i got a low score i dont know how cuz all my practice exams was in the range of 710 -730 currently im planning on giving it again in dec, right now i am a bit worn out studying gmat but i still do my weekly practice exams and tests to keep me going i would appreciate if anyone could help me by telling me anyother mode of preperation or something that can raise my standard or tougher exams ....something of that sort..
i will post in later but im awaiting ur reply

I am applying for a PhD in accounting. For my GMAT prep I focused on one area at a time (of the 5 or 6 on the GMAT) - for me this was 4-5 days per area and doing an hour a day (if you have more time great, I didn't and got up early to fit it in). I just did question after question from the official guide on the specific area for 5 days. With your background you would have the basics under control, you should simply focus on the questions.

For PhD programs - aim for the 700+ band if you are trying to apply to top 25 univs.
