Hi everyone!
Currently a senior in undergrad (graduating December 2019) and want to get an idea of what things I need to do to beef up my stats for grad school applications.
Present stats (Double Major: Accounting & Business Analytics):
Overall GPA 3.55
Accounting GPA: 3.70
Business Analytics GPA: 4.0
Additionally, currently Calc I through Linear Algebra at a local CC, planning to finish around the time I'd graduate and holding an A in the Calc I class to prepare for the math I'll need to take during the program.
Extra-curricular:
Beta Alpha Psi (Honors organization for accounting students) - Leadership/Officer position with a heavy focus in community service project (teaching financial literacy to under-served members of the local community)
Via BAP, tons of community service with various local organizations
Work:
Currently:
Interning for the DoD as an Auditor Trainee
Working as a student tutor for Principals of Managerial (Cost) Accounting and Introduction to Business Analytics (Business Statistcs)
Next Semester:
Bumping into a Research Assistant role on campus for the Accounting Department
Starting a busy season internship with a public firm.
Summer 2019:
Continuing RA role & currently waiting to hear back from a national firm for a summer internship
Fall 2019:
Continuing RA Role & resuming internship with DoD
LORs: I know I can get one from my faculty advisor for BAP, possibly the department head for the school of accountancy after I complete my first semester as an RA, and I think I could get one from each of my current accounting professors. I could possibly get one from my BNAL department head, though I'm not sure if that matters if I want my PhD in accounting.
GMAT: Not yet taken but currently studying. I know I'll need to score above 700 so I've been working on the math. Practice tests have shown I score high on the verbal portion.
So, with that said, what more do I need to be doing? Or does this seem pretty unlikely and should I be focusing on a masters program and then move into a PhD program after? Any advice is appreciated.
