So I'm looking to apply to Accounting PhD programs with a Fall 2012 start date. There are two things that have been bugging me:
1) Where did everyone get their LORs from? I've been out of school for more than three years and feel like LORs from my supervisors would be more applicable at this point, but it seems like some of the generic responses from schools is to get LORs from professors. Note: a significant part of my work experience mimics the research that would be done in the PhD program - i.e. providing clients with accounting treatment options after researching guidance from several sources.
2) Does my short list of schools seem reasonable? I'll probably add a few more schools in there eventually but I'm not sure if I'm assessing my reach/safety schools appropriately. Any suggestions would be welcomed!
My background: 3 years of Big 4 audit experience plus 1 year of Big 4 accounting & financial reporting advisory experience, 3.64 undergrad GPA from a top school that is notorious for tough grading, GMAT 740, CPA in two states, a couple publications, professional association memberships and some community service.
