Hi fellow GMATclubbers,
This is my first post. Today I took GMAT and I got 690 (Q50,V31,IR4,AWA - expecting 5 or 6). I am not retaking it right now, though my preparation was not great. Actually I do not have time to improve my score this year as the application deadlines are very near. I am aiming for PhD in Finance. My profile summary is as given below:
Age: 31
Undergrad: Mechanical Engineering, Decent Score - read not top 10% (4 years degree in India from a good university / NITs)
WE1: 5 years - Sales & Proposals in Power Sector
Grad: MBA Finance, Decent Score - read not top 10% (2 years degree in India from good university / IIMs)
WE2: 2 years - Marketing of Software Product
As you can see I do not have relevant work experience in Finance. And overall I do not have a very suitable profile for Finance PhD. However, due to my interest I really want to pursue and would try my luck to get admission. Also my GMAT score is not good. I believe prudently I should apply to only those universities which are lower than top rung. Can anybody help me with suggestions for Universities.
I have not done enough research on the Universities and the average GMAT scores but I guess I should apply to some of these: Arizona State, Ohio State, Pennsylvania State, Michigan State.. Would like to have expert view on this apart from additional suggestions.

The score is good but you need to check the rest of your application, for being a strong candidate.
