I am Planning to apply for PhD in Management from US Universities, I have around 4 years experience in Consulting and MBA from one of the top IIM.
Below are my areas of concern:
1. What is a good GMAT scores to apply for top 50 B Schools in US? I am expecting to get around 720 - 740.
2. My graduate GPA is a bit low, but my Undergrad GPA is good. Will it affect my chances?
3. I have shortlisted below colleges to apply. Are these good options? Are there any other B Schools which would be great?
Scheller College of Business
Mays Business School
Navin Jindal School of Management
Eccles school of Business
Wisconsin school of business
Gabelli School of Business
Freeman school of business
Watson graduate school of Management
Eller School of Business
Any help would be really appreciated.
Hi
ashikpshetty1. Your GMAT score is decent and would be good enough to apply with. Your GPA also matters when applying to PhD programs, and is looked at closely. If you can manage 720+, you should be in good shape. Any research or publications also do help.
2. Your postgrad GPA (from an IIM) will help. The undergrad part - depends on how low it is. If it is very low (say, below First Division), then it can be an issue by itself. Also, the quality of your work-ex (which consulting firm you have worked in) will play a role. If it is an M/B/B firm, then that is a certain plus.
3. The exact choice of schools would depend on your intended area, faculty, and grants available (if that is a factor for you). Very generally speaking, you could aim for schools with higher ranking and prestige.
4. In case it suits, also look at option for
a PhD in Management in India.
