If we are opting for GMAT online, do we have to setup the physical whiteboard in such a way that is visible to the proctor? Or can we essentially place it like a notebook/notepad?
Also, on another note, apart from the obvious disadvantage of no scratchpads and not being able to cancel scores, is there any significant disadvantage of online GMAT? Like is there any preference/discrimination based online/offline GMAT score when applying to B-schools? Are they selective about it or do they treat all equally?
Hello,
ShivangiGoswami. No, you do not need to work with the whiteboard visible to the proctor, not only because doing so would be impractical (involving a lot of turning around), but because security measures are taken beforehand to ensure that your whiteboard is clear, free of any markings that could give you an unfair advantage. You will need to show the proctor both sides of your whiteboard a few times over the course of taking the Online Exam (e.g., before and after you may leave for a break). Concerning disadvantages to taking the Online Exam, some people experience a lag during the test, and a few members have reported canceling the exam altogether because of the issue. However, GMAC™ has made it clear that the Online Exam is held in the same regard as an exam taken at a test center. Either way, your score will be valid for five years.
Good luck, whichever delivery method you end up choosing.
