Hi everyone, long-time lurker, first-time poster. I’m looking for some brutal honesty on my profile and a sanity check on my post-MBA goals.
My Profile:
GEM/10th: 9.6/12th: 77.6%/Btech(Civil): 7.8
Took a drop after 12th. Graduated in 2017.
Work Experience (9 Years): Managing my family business (MSME).
I’ve reached a point where I want to pivot into a structured corporate environment. I am not planning to return to the business post-MBA.
Target Schools (figured out till now):
India: IIM Ahmedabad (PGPX), IIM Bangalore (EPGP), IIM Calcutta (MBAEx), ISB (PGP).
Global: Probably Europe (1 year programs) like Hec Paris, esade, imd switzerland, iese, insead, lbs
My Questions for the Community:
Is MBA the right path at 31? Given my 9 years of experience, am I "over-experienced" or "over-aged" for a career pivot, or do I fit the Executive MBA bracket well?
India vs. Abroad: Considering my background, where is the better ROI for a corporate switch? I’m open to global roles but want to know if the "Family Business" tag is respected in EU/US recruiting.
GMAT vs. GRE: I recently took a GMAT Focus diagnostic and got a 525 (Zero prep, 78DI/77V/73Q). It's not a good score, but I am seriously out of touch from these concepts. As a B.Tech grad, should I stick with the GMAT Focus or try GRE?
TOEFL/IELTS: Are these absolutely needed for Indian candidates if the medium of instruction was English?
Consultant Way: For a family business candidate, do I need a consultant to "translate" my experience into corporate-speak? If yes, who is best for Indian mid-career profiles?
Looking forward to your insights!
