Dear Admission experts,
I am aspiring to get into a Hardware Product management in a manufacturing industry right after my MBA.
To make it is easy to understand I have given examples for the role & industry below,
Hardware PM - PM in Apple, PM in Tesla, PM in Electrolux
Manufacturing - durable product manufacturer (ex, fridge, smart phone, car)
When schools publish their placement details, I am finding it difficult to know how many get into hardware PM as they don't give a split between hardware & software PM. Also schools publish both PM and manufacturing job offers separately and which one should I consider as I want to get into PM in manufacturing industry.
In a nutshell, what industry/role should I be looking at in placement details of US schools, so that I could be sure of my placement in my target role & industry.
Please help me on how to use the placement records of schools. Many Thanks in advance!!

This is a tough one to answer as you're looking for a niche industry statistic. Since the data set is quite small most likely business schools merge them with other heads are you've explained in your post. Couple of other pointers that you can use to identify a good school for you:
1. Is there PM concentration offered? implies that, a particular business school has a good infrastructure around product management.
2. Geography - Look for where are the manufacturing facilities located of your target companies or their HQ. It helps in networking and hiring.
3. Industry hiring reports - there are a lot of HR quarterly that can shed light on the hiring resources of your target companies.
4. LinkedIn - Look at professionals that are currently in your target jobs and then look at their educational background.
Generally speaking, companies you're targeting have the pan USA hiring so you cannot go wrong by choosing any top business school.
