Hi all,

My name is Alex. I am 27, white male from Eastern European country.

GMAT 690 (q50,v33)
work exp: 3 years as an actuary at PWC, 2 years as consultant at A.T. Kearney in Eastern Europe.
GPA 3.6 (out of 4) from top 3 university in my country, majoring in applied math
Goal: short-term - Big 3 management consulting firm (financial services practice), mid-term - establish own strategic actuarial consulting company in my country (focus on insurance)
Black belt in Karate

I am applying to Booth, LBS, Stern, UCLA, Darden.

Thank you!
Hey there,
And good to hear from you!

Now, I'd LOVE to help you out and get down with your profile.

The thing is I am missing detail.

I need a LOT more info from you - school name, employer name, titles, promotions, greatest achievements, volunteer work, sports, community service, religious involvement, leadership.. etc. before I can give you a real evaluation.

But the short of it is that if you want to get to a top program or get into a Big 3 consulting firm you will be helped out by a higher GMAT, so I would consider a retake.

Best,
Jon

Hey Jon,

Thank you for your reply.

I'll try to add a few things about my profile:

1) I was a senior actuary at PWC. Received 3 promotions, including one double promotion. Now I am a senior business analyst at A.T. Kearney, the promotion is expected in July 2016.
2) Major achievement - first in my family to go to university
3) Sports: black belt in karate + captain of the university's soccer team

Hope it helps.

Thank you in advance!

Well then from what I can see here, you should be fine within Top 20 but you will need those extra 30 points on that GMAT. So my advice remains the same: Work on that GMAT over the next months and try and hit a 720 before June. If you are gonna apply with a 690 then a more realistic school list would be made from schools in the 10-30 ranking.

Hope this helps!!!
Best,
