1) Basic demographic info: 30, Male, Chinese American
2) Educational Background: GMAT: 710 Q48 V40 Undergrad: 3.3 GPA with a strong upward swing in the last 2 years, Business Administration, MIS Degree
3) Work experience: Worked for 7+ years, currently for a boutique management consulting firm in the telecom industry, previously at another boutique management consulting firm helping launch the first two retail stores for a global software giant. before that, had a progressive 5 year career at one of the big 4 firms. one caveat is that i've been laid off twice in two years, but received an offer shortly after being laid off with an increase in pay and responsibility.
4) Extracurriculars: heavy involvement at my local church, spending up to 20 hours/week helping senior leadership plan out events and studies, introducing new changes, influencing culture, and mentoring young adults.
5) Short/Long term goals: career switcher, moving from consulting to finance. short term goal is to move into corporate development, performing due diligence on target companies for a large corporation, hopefully in some consumer goods space. long term is to continue in that path, but move towards an international focus, how to penetrate markets with current goods offered, as well as introducing the US to goods only offered abroad.
6) Schools: Berkeley is far and away my #1 choice. also considering applying UCLA, Texas, Duke, and UW. Potentially NYU, Kellogg, Darden.
