Hello Admissionado team. Would you please evaluate my profile? I want to work for McKinsey in Germany eventually so I want to earn an MBA. My target schools are MBS, ESMT, and WHU. Here's my profile:
- 29, female, Asian
- Bachelor of Science, Biochemistry from the University of the Philippines Manila (GPA 2.75/4.0) in 2011
- I was supposed to graduate in 2005 but I had to work full time beginning my second year in uni to support my family financially. This affected my grades really bad.
If there are any redeeming factors in my transcript, I passed all my lab courses with good grades and I also received high marks for my thesis.
- Total work experience: 8 years, 10 months; two companies (a Fortune 1000 BPO and a Fortune 500 German FMCG)
- I worked for 6.5 years for a BPO in Manila where I showed career progression from staff to HR manager (with responsibility of 4,000 headcount)
- I'm currently working for a German FMCG in Central Europe as HR for Expat Management (since Feb 2013; I transferred from the Manila office); I am managing the expatriation of high level employees of the company
- I am yet to take my GMAT
- Extra-curriculars: assisted in a medical mission once, participated in a typhoon relief activity, hosted a Christmas party for children who were victims of violence, joined a community building project for Habitat for Humanity, participated in a mangrove habitat preservation, volunteered as a cashier for the city library to raise funds for the benefit of the blind, taught in an orphanage, diversity and inclusion ambassador for my current company
- Continuous Education: went through a management development program with the BPO I used to work for, trained in Six Sigma, Project Management and Records Management (ISO 9001), attended Accounting for Non-Accountants workshops, trained in Statistics and SPSS, currently learning the German language (set to take my B1 test in August).
Please let me know my weak points (aside from my horrible GPA) and how I can increase my chances of getting into the schools I targeted. Thank you in advance!

Hey there,
Well the schools you are aiming at, although they are the best programs in Germany don't yet have the international renown of some other schools, sooooo I think that with a good GMAT you should be able to get into those schools even with your GPA. But you will need that GMAT! Because the GMAT is what can tell us: okay what happened in school was a mistake because look how smart she is with this 710! That's why it is sooooo important for you, more even than for others. Because it will help you make up for your GPA.
Other than that, your work experience seems very good. You have a lot of leadership. Work in Germany.
For the moment I'd say concentrate all your efforts on the GMAT, and let me know how you do!

Hi Jon, thanks a lot for the advice. Yes, I am indeed focusing on the GMAT because I thought that's the only way to prove to the schools that I can manage the rigor of b-school. I am glad to hear that I am focusing on the right thing. Thank you so much for your advice. I will let you know how it turns out. Thanks!
