27 y/o asian male working as a consultant for the Federal Government, prior to that I worked as a Federal employee performing legal and financial research. My stats are:
• GRE 156V, 159Q
• GPA: 3.3
• Large public university (Tier 2-3)
• Extracurriculars include two pro-bono consulting projects and additional volunteer work
My goal is to continue working as a consultant and transition to a more well known public sector practice, or transition back to a Federal Employee (think PMF). I think my story could align but realize my GPA/GRE and non-feeder small company may result in dings.
Target Schools
• NYU Langone
• Booth (PT)
• Cornell (FT)
• UCLA (FT)
• Michigan (PT or FT)
I tried to target FT programs where I'm at least in range of their GRE scores based on the P&Q figures.

Hi there,
Sounds like you know your main challenges/weaknesses; namely GPA and test scores, so far I'd agree. Wondering if you've thought about re-taking at all? As that would improve your chances. But overall I'd say public sector/government experience CAN be a plus at times, if you do a good job showcasing your accomplishments and relevant experiences, and at making a clear and compelling case for why you need/want the MBA. I don't think it will be easy to get into the schools you mentioned, but I wouldn't rule them out either, so it could be worth a shot. Interesting that they are a mix of Pt and Ft programs; when applying to Pt you'll want to address why you are looking at Pt and whether you'll still be working or how it will all be structured. Good luck and let us know what other q' s you have !

Thanks for your evaluation. Do you feel NYU Langone is that competitive, with a 65% acceptance and a GMAT 80% range starting at 620? I felt I was fairly competitive there but I guess that begs the question on the types they are admitting with low GMATs/GPAs.
With 80% GMAT range starting at 620, that means below that level is pretty rare to be accepted. But overall yes you should have a shot, GRE scores could be higher; your essays and overall application will be very important.
