Hi,
I didn't knew where to post this question. But can you please help me.
Please evaluate my profile. I am targeting GMAT around July 2015
Me:
- 28 yr old Indian Male
- Did my schooling from CBSE board- ~12 Years, Grades : 73.8% Xth, 62.2% XIIth
- Engineering from Indore Institute of Science and Technology (RGTU Bhopal) with 73.75 %
Extra curricular
-Have been part of College Cultural and Sports committe.
-Played Cricket and Football in school (at school level and college level),was into debating in school and college.
-Was the Head boy of the school in the year 2002.
-Have been part of organizing committee for fests during my college days.
-Am part of the CSR team in my organization.
Work:
- Will complete 4 years in march 2015 in the IT sector firms.
- Have an Client facing role as I am involved in User Acceptance Testing. Interacting with BA's and working closely with the business is a part of my profile.
Targeting:
- ISB Hyderabad
- Kellogg school of Management
I am not sure what GMAT score will I need and with my current profile. And will I be able to target these colleges after a good GMAT score considering my academics and my work experience and which areas I can improve so that I can make my application look good and substantial?

Dear Prasahnt,
Very good to hear from you.
On the foundation level your profile is good, but also challenging because of the difficult pool you are coming from (Indian/Male/IT). For Top 10 schools from It, it can be difficult for non-IIT/non-IIT grads to get accepted unless they have something really exceptional in their profile.
Right now, from what you have written here, I would try and focus on thinking where you can improve your profile to make it more exciting and interesting. Like I wrote, I think you have good work experience, but since you are coming from such a huuuuge pool of applicants, it's really really important that you do something that will make you stand out.

Thanks for your quick response. I appreciate the time which you have given for evaluating my profile.
As you have already stated that I come from from such a huge pool of applicants (Indian/Male/IT) and I also understand the gravity of coming from this particular pool. As in the above message you have already said that you would try and focus on thinking where I can improve my profile to make it more exciting and interesting. But I will like to understand if I get a GMAT around 750 will that be able to help my application in terms of applying to the colleges?? Meanwhile, which areas I should focus more on in my profile to improve on (any examples from your end). I also have few certifications (Technical) and as well as been Awarded Project star award also in my first organisation. I have read on my portals that the Essays plays an important role in a person's application??
Sorry for asking all these questions as they can be irrelevant also I am just kind of worried for the same reason coming from such a huge pool of applicants and I want my profile should be substantial enough so that I can get interview calls from the good B-schools.
