Hi Jon,

Thanks for your quick response. I appreciate the time which you have given for evaluating my profile.
As you have already stated that I come from from such a huge pool of applicants (Indian/Male/IT) and I also understand the gravity of coming from this particular pool. As in the above message you have already said that you would try and focus on thinking where I can improve my profile to make it more exciting and interesting. But I will like to understand if I get a GMAT around 750 will that be able to help my application in terms of applying to the colleges?? Meanwhile, which areas I should focus more on in my profile to improve on (any examples from your end). I also have few certifications (Technical) and as well as been Awarded Project star award also in my first organisation. I have read on my portals that the Essays plays an important role in a person's application??

Sorry for asking all these questions as they can be irrelevant also I am just kind of worried for the same reason coming from such a huge pool of applicants and I want my profile should be substantial enough so that I can get interview calls from the good B-schools.

Thank you for your time.

Thanks
Prashant Gupta

Prashant,
Ask all the questions you need! That's why we are here.

So first of all, a GMAT of a 750, or even a 730 or 720 would be great! It's the single action you can take to best boost your profile. But I also want to be honest with you - a great GMAT is enough for Top 20 (which don't get me wrong, if you get in, it's AWESOME!), but Top 10 they want to see MORE. In Top 10 schools EVERYONE has a great GMAT, and for them the difference between 720 and 770 is minimal. What starts to matter once you get a great GMAT is the rest of your profile.

So basically, yes, you will have a decent shot at Kellogg if you pull a 750. Is it a 100% guarantee for an in? No... but it's a great start.

Best,
Jon

Hi Jon,

Thanks for the quick and prompt response.
At the moment I am just thinking about GMAT only as that is the first hurdle rather an opportunity for me to boost my profile. So my target is a good GMAT score. Meanwhile, I will try and research more how I can make my profile a substantial one.
Thanks again for all the inputs that you had provided to me.

Thank you for your time.

Cheers!!
Prashant Gupta

P.S.: I will keep posting for any other queries if I had and hope you won't mind that :)

Hey Prashant,
Seems like a wise plan to me, and of course if you have any questions along the way, don't hesitate.

Good luck on your test,
best,
Jon
