Hi. Are you only looking at US schools?
INSEAD offers a PhD in Management, with one of the areas of focus is Accounting area, however, we are located in Singapore and in France.
The area doesn't require applicants to have a research background prior to joining the programme. It would be a plus but not a mandatory requirement, since many of our students have come with research experience that is only at the undergraduate level doing dissertation. Moreover, having a strong quantitative background helps, which you already have.
What is important in the programme is being able to identify research themes that align with faculty to ensure that we have the expertise to supervise you. I can speak to you more about this if you are keen. Do give me a PM, if INSEAD PhD suits your graduate programme objectives.
