* Undergrad: 3.6 (Econ/Business Top South Korea business school), Took a lot of econometrics class. - Full year scholarship for 4 years
* Grad: 3.8 (Masters in Accounting- USC) - Merit based Scholarship
* GMAT: 750
* Work Experience: Big4 Audit Manager (4.5 years-early promoted)
* CPA, CFA
* No research experience
* Good recommendation from Grad school professors and Partners
* Not a US citizen

Is Research experience or research paper "must to have"?

Thank you!

Hello!

US citizen doesn't matter. Good recommendations matter here whether they talk about your class performance or research potential because what we do in undergrad/master of accounting and Phd in accounting are significantly different. Sometime schools admit a student with good gpa and everything but the student fail to adjust to research and drop out. (I have seen one in my school) That's why they look for research background. If you did sit in phd research seminar in grad shcool that's really good, otherwise I would recommend you to read some research paper in accounting in areas of your choice - managerial, audit, financial, tax.

Awesome profile.
Research papers, esp if published in well respected journals contribute well to your candidature, but depending on what course you pursue, will influence a maximum of 15%. It will matter how you shape your SOP (Profound statement, right? ). No, really! Your SOP will make that BIG difference.
