Hey guys,
I appeared for my GMAT second attempt on 29th Dec scoring a 650( Q46 V34 IR3). Though its an improvement of 50 points from my previous attempt i am not completely disappointed on the fact that i didn't improve. But i was scoring a 700 in my mocks and so a 650 did disappoint me,.
However, I gave the second attempt close to my application deadline. Hence i had no choice but to move on with my scores.
The schools I shortlisted for MS finance program are as follows:
Simon Business School - 5 th jan (applied)
Texas Mcombs - 10th jan ( APPLIED)
Columbia Business score MSAFA - Yet to apply
Fordham University - Yet to apply.
Columbia has been my dream school and I am really looking forward to it but all my hopes were shattered looking at the low gmat.
Brief overview of my resume--
BBA (Finance) - NMIMS Mumbai - 3.69 GPA .
I possess extracurriculars in college and outside with an experience in social service.
I have published 1 research paper
I possess french language certification for 2 levels from the french Ministry.
Currently i am working full-time with Accenture as a client financial Management Associate for a US based client.
My deadlines for Columbia go on 21st . Is there any hope I could get in with a low gmat? If so, it would be great if you could give some tips on how i can make my profile stronger or any tips on writing the essays.!
I am highly discouraged to apply to my dream school. I really need some motivation so take this step.

For one, no gmat score is a guaranteed make or break case. It really does depend on your entire profile (and of those who apply in the same round as you).
Regarding your profile, I've no idea if the GPA is good or average (As in some courses a 4.0 is not that challenging, so there's that) but you do have extra-curricular experiences (and I am assuming here it means leadership or quantifiable experiences that created some value, and not mere participation) and volunteer experiences. Moreover, you've one published a research paper and have French language skills.
I'd say you do have a good profile but in the end it would boil down to how you present your past experiences with. You need to present a clear motivation and a definite 'why' to everything you've done so far (maybe leverage on working for a US based client?). Thus, show how and why you're choosing this degree and what you bring to the table that will benefit the class and the college.
You've decided not to give GMAT again, and trust me, I understand. I did the same this year, and I did get through to the course and university I so wanted to get into! Give your all to the rest of the application. GMAT is at maximum 25% of the application. Maximise the rest of it and wait for the results. Irrespective of the results, you will learn something that can be used moving forward.

This may come a bit late for the 21st Jan application, but Columbia may be a bit of a challenge at your score. You could possibly retake and apply later if that is a possibility. Hope the other results went well.
