Hi Folks, i am prepearing since 2 months for gmat. But somehow it seems my prep is not going well. I am not good at Verbal part. I am practising & just practising. In practice papers, outta 60, i just hit between 25-27..Bad Score, i know. In Quantitative i go between 41-45. But, i know Maths and i know how to improve on it...But Verbal part is hammering me hard!!!
Will just practising for a month bring my score upto 40 in verbal? Also, i am practising SCs & Crs from 1000SCs and 1000Crs. Do u think that will help?
Shoot in better ways to prepare for my GMAT.

in verbal - you have to get the feel for the right sentences... via reading general stuff. RC and CR are a bit easier to handle via practice (try the manhattan gmat strategies)
thanks..I am already using the manhattan strategies.... Manhattan RC and CR strategies are too time consuming....and if i adapt to them, i believe time will be my biggest enemy...
for verbal you gotta know why you got it wrong! error logs are key to do well. keep doing practice test wont do you good if you dont know how to do them
that is a decent explanation. You dont have to follow it to a T but you need to at least figure out what type of problem you got wrong on, which number (so you can redo later) and maybe even how long it took ya. I created a list of prob i got wrong and types then when i went back i crossed them off once i got them right
that does make sense as well.. thanks shaselai.... I am just being too lazy keeping logs (it adds more time to analysis of wrong answers) but the benefits are there.

ity might be annoying but you need to somehow know what type of ques you are getting wrong though.

For CR, read power score CR bible. I have improved my accuracy on CR using this book. Refer to the CR forum there are so many sticky information, which could be useful.

This seems like a cop out. How far is your exam? The CR book is pretty easy to get through. Even if you just read through the strategy (and don't work on the questions), it shouldn't take you too long to read through and understand the material. It shouldn't take you more than a few hours.
The SC is a little more time consuming but it will make a significant difference in your score.
I don't have the MGMAT RC so can't comment on that.
Except for the "naturals" out there, the GMAT rewards those that buckle down and focus on the material. I don't want to sound harsh, but performing well takes work. There are no shortcuts. At least not without understanding the basics first.
Even when you your answer is correct, make sure you still run through the explanation. Many times, we embed little gems there which could be very useful to you. Plus, it is good to know exactly why your answer was correct if you guessed (especially in SC).

Dude you need to move beyond strategies and actually start doing passages, only then will you begin to see improvements. I think Powerscore CR is a good book. In case you are finding Manhattan SC too dense I suggest you go through the Aristotle SC Grail. It provides you with all the SC rules in a very concise manner.
Good luck!
