Hi everyone,
Hope you are all doing well! Please help take a look at my profile and give out some advice of whether or not it is competitive for the MSc in FA at LBS. Im also looking at LSE, UCL and KCL, but not sure if any of those are doable.
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Nationality: Vietnam
Academic Performance:
+ Undergrad major: International Finance
+ GPA: 3.54 / 4 from a local mainstream university (top 2 economics uni in Vietnam)
+ GMAT: 710 (V49, Q38, IR8)
+ IELTS 7.5, no skills under 6.5
+ CFA Level 1
+ I represent my school to participate in the local round of CFA Research Challenge (we also had a school competition for selection, in which I ranked 1st). Our school report was within the local top 5 (I did the Valuation/Financial Analysis parts)
+ I had a research paper regarding Derivatives which was published/ recorded at a National Conference
Work Experience:
+ 1 year 9 months as Valuation Analysts in Duff & Phelps (now Kroll), with Singapore team. I worked closely with PE/VC funds for portfolio valuation, participated in some fairness opinion deals and PPAs.
+ 3-month internship as Valuation Services intern at PwC Vietnam, worked on 2-3 BEVs and PPAs projects
+ 3-month internship as Risk Management intern at a local insurance company (top insurance company regarding revenue in our country),
Motivation: Taking MiF as I wanna pursuit career in the PE/VC firms
Extra curriculars:
- A project under YSEALI and the Embassy of US, targeting to enhance the leadership skills for women. I was the Head of Public Relations, led a team of >10 ppl, hosted a writing competition with >700 participants and a few events.
- A voluntary club that provide cultural tours for foreign visitors, i was also Head of Public Relations and led a team of >10 ppl, managed a FB fanpage with >100k followers
- I am also an unprofessional street photographer, I have an Instagram of >5,000 followers to exhibits my works
Regarding my profile:
+ Is it competitive enough for a chance in LBS? Otherwise, could you please suggest me any other options that are doable?
+ Please tell if there's anything i could take up or any point i should put more emphasis on to strengthen my profile, i just registered for a course in Python as well, hope it helps.
+ I'm thinking of whom to request for LoR. I was working closely with a Senior Consultant, this title would be ~ Manager at Big4, as its post senior-associate and she's kind an MVP in our team and leading multiple projects. Could someone advise if a LoR from her is fairly enough or I should go for someone with bigger title (MD/ VP etc.)

You are eligible to MS Financial Analysis in LBS, not MiF as you have only 2 years of experience. LBS MiF is a post-experience masters, requiring 3+ years of experience.
