Hi Vinayak, as Gnpth suggested most B-schools requires a minimum 5 years of experience (I will suggest you to look at some MBA class profiles also, for some of the B-schools, so you will have idea abt wrk experience yrs after people prefer to go for MBA) ... and anyway it doesn't make much sense doing MBA without any work ex. (you will also feel this after having some experience) .. So I would suggest go ahead start your career in IT or any other field wherever you want .. have some work ex. .. then come back and give GMAT a shot again..

vinayakprakash,

Again it depends on the schools you apply for.

Please note that, GMAT is one of the criteria not the only thing which B-schools uses to admit students.

yes sir, i plan to work in the IT sector for 3 years and then apply. my question is that will i be able to get admission in a decent bschool with the given profile (after adding 3 years WE). the average score for schools like Kelly(660) , kranrett (620) and mays(640) is near my score, according to businessweek. are there high chances in these schools?

Yes, I think you can do much better in terms of the GMAT. Have you taken it only once?
You in a rush or something?

You will be a good 50 points below the average. That's really not recommended, esp if you are going to apply much later. it will be hard and I feel will be much easier to retake or not even bother with applying to those schools. Not impossible but moving your score up by 40-50 points would remove a significant red flag and make you a competitive applicant vs. struggling.

Remember that the scores do not matter as much in the top 20 as long as you have a minimum. At the moment, I don't feel you have that with 630.
You should sleep on it and not run from it. You have to find a way to conquer that feeling and devastation you are feeling. it is just a stupid test....
