Hi,
Long time lurker, first time poster.
I was wondering can anyone please offer me some advice.
Currently I am planning to apply to Uni. So Cal, Uni. North Carolina, Illinois, Notre Dame, UT Austin in March for the Masters of Accounting program. I am a recent grad at the University of Florida, majored in Finance graduated with a 3.7 Cum Laude. Currently I am working at a major appliance company in the supply chain company.
As for the GMAT I have taken it exactly twice. First time w/out studying I got a 510, second with some study but on and off for 6 month I got a 580. I am planning to retake it in mid Janurary. I was wondering what can I do to improve my score to around a 630-660.
Is it even possible for me to improve taht much within this period of time?
During the second go around of the GMAT, I scored in the 60th percentile in both Quant and Verbal. I beleive I was doing well in Quant because I saw a combinations problem. But from that point on I wasn't able to answer questions because of time constraints. I would see problems that I knew that I could answer but couldn't because of time constraints.
As for Verbal I have not improved or did worse since my first test.
So what do you guys think I should do?
My books include Manhattan GMAT, Kaplan 800.

I don't know anything about Masters of Accounting programs so I have no suggestion regarding how your score stacks up for those applications.
I will say that Florida is a pretty good school and a 3.7 GPA is great. Given your background in finance I think you definitely have the potential to improve your score. I can't say whether you have enough time to do it by January.
I suggest that you give the test your full attention for the next month. You can't really do your best if you study on and off. A higher GMAT score will pay off down the line in a degree from a better school and better employment opportunities, so if you can find the time it will be worth your while.

It's very nice that u have decided to post more than lurke
... Actually, one key of improvments is how much u participe to this forum . U should expose your answers to the view of other testtakers in order to have remarks or to assimilate better/other ways to solve math problems for instance.
As Pelihu said, I think u have all the necessary background to go up till the 90 purcentil (49) in quant, at least
To understand more about your preparation, I would like to ask u some questions :
> Do u use an errorlog to track your mistakes? To identify your weak areas?
> How many time did u do a whole GMATPrep or a consor exam? with or without the AWA section?
> After 1min30 lasted on a single quant question, do u ask yourselves : Can I solve this question within the next 30s or not?
> Do u practice questions in sets or independently ? For how long?
Last thing...... U can do it ! :D
