Hi sergio1290,

Many Test Takers take the GMAT more than once - and Business Schools don't care if you retest - so there's no harm (or shame) in doing so. From what you describe, you seem to understand that the way you studied before wasn't effective to getting you to your Score goal, so some changes are going to be needed for this next phase of your studies. Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) What were the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for your Official GMAT?
2) What study materials have you used over all of your studies?
3) Which "brands" of practice CATs/mocks have you used so far and how did you score on each (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
4) What is your goal score?
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
6) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,

Hi EMPOWERgmatRichC,

Appreciate your reply,

Studies:
1) What were the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for your Official GMAT?
In Q I got a 43 and in V I got something around the 10s, pretty embarrassing to be honest. I don't remember the exact score on V since I was in shock when I saw my score.
2) What study materials have you used over all of your studies?
I enrolled in the online Kaplan class (thousands of $$ wasted), used Manhattan LSAT for CR and for math I've been following the OG and GmatClub exercises
3) Which "brands" of practice CATs/mocks have you used so far and how did you score on each (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
At first I used the Kaplan test, in which my score was around the 600's. That's why I felt confident in taking the GMAT. After that I rested for a couple of months and I've been studying since January using Veritas CAT.

Goals:
4) What is your goal score?
650, I know that for some people 650 is a joke but for me it's like touching the sky.
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
I was planning to apply on March at first, but that boat has already sailed and since my Verbal hasn't improved, I guess I'll be applying for next year's R1.
6) What Schools are you planning to apply to?
My first choice is George Washington University.

Additionally, could you explain me why CATs from Kaplan and Veritas are so different compared to the real GMAT. I understand that the algorithm is private, but I cannot understand why I can easily get around 30 in CATs and score so poorly in the real test.

Thanks for your kind reply.
