Over the last 8 weeks I have gone through all of the Manhattan GMAT books + OG and my real weakness is SC.
I just took the 1st practice exam from the GMAC and scored 660 Q44 and V36; I feel pretty good about everything besides SC. My goal is a 720; I didn't do any quant review prior to taking the test because I wanted to see what I retained. (I did the quant books before the verbal books)
On the Verbal Section I went:
12/13 on RC
10/11 on CR
4/17!!!! on SC (My score on OG Q's was 70% on SC so not sure what happened here)
English is my native language.
Has anyone else had a similar experience where they just couldnt nail down SC? What did you do to improve? I read through the Manhattan book on SC and honestly it was about as enjoyable as reading the dictionary so that probably didn't help in my learning/retention. Any tips or other recommended study sources would be appreciated. Also I am open to online classes specifically for SC.

Books can only do so much. We recommend learning through video so you can get a sense of timing as well.

When it comes to Sentence Correction problems, there are four skills that can help:
1. Patience - don't jump the gun. For the hardest SC questions, you'll need to go through a few steps before you're ready to answer.
2. Meaning - SC questions are rarely only grammatical. Be sure you understand what the original sentence is trying to convey. This will help you rule out answers that don't make sense or violate the logic or meaning of the sentence.
3. Attention to detail
4. Don't just use your gut or 'ear' to select an answer choice. Try to eliminate incorrect answer choices systematically.
There are several tools you can use to help you tackle the sentence correction problems. The Economist GMAT Tutor, for example, presents you with practice questions that incrementally get harder, testing one concept at a time and then in combination. As you progress, you will have a chance to identify these structures in more and more complex sentences.
